K800i confusion

I really don't understand all of this. My K800 had apperently very old firmware. SEUS and the on-phone update service has never updated so I went about flashing the phone with Phone-XS. Using more luck than skill, I successfully upgraded from R1ED001 to R1GB001, both on Red49. I lost all my settings, phonebook etc, but hey, VERY new to this. The new update has also not included the Update Service on the phone - it's just not there!!
So have I got the latest firmware now? On the Sony Ericsson firmware section in this forum, R1GB001 Red49 for Europe (I live in UK) is the latest.
Any help - in really plain simple terms - will be greatly appreciated.
